BIOGRAPHY

Jameus comes from a small country called Singapore. Being interested in performing, he has honed his craft in LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, during his studies. Jameus mainly plays the alto saxophone. He is currently learning to play both the clarinet and baritone saxophone to further improve and expand his ability.

Jameus is able to command and lead bands as both a front man as well as part of a horn section. He has had various performing experience in different settings such as musicals, live quartet to sextet and even nonets and second line brass bands. He has performed at venues such as Esplanade, Aliwal Art Centre and the Substation and events like Beerfest Asia, opening ceremony for Rebel Fighting Championship and NightFest.

Jameus also composes original music for various settings such as jazz quintets, big bands and graphic motion for art installation. He is an improviser in various musical settings including jazz and free improvised music. Outside improvised and straight ahead music, Jameus also plays different genres of music like Ska, Rhythm and Blues and Hip-Hop. Jameus is deeply influenced by the music of great Jazz musicians such as Cannonball Adderley, Hank Mobley and more. He is also in love with music by Ray Charles, D'angelo, Snarky Puppy and Vulfpeck.

Jameus also freelances as a woodwind technician and occasionally as a event planner. He is interested not only in the music making aspect, the gritty details that makes a musician feel comfortable with regards to the instrument and how music can brought and be connected to the general audience.
